Greater Leith Against the Cuts Anti-Bedroom Tax Public Meeting

Greater Leith Against the Cuts are holding a public meeting on Tuesday 23rd April regarding the bedroom tax which came into effect earlier this month. There will be a range of speakers and the group hope to hear from those directly affected by the bedroom tax as well as discussing ways in which we can organise against it.

2pm Thursday 18th April 2013                                                                                           Our petition calling on the City of Edinburgh Council to not evict tenants that fall into arreas due to the Bedroom Tax has closed with over 1300 signatures.

Fight the Bedroom Tax – Local Meetings

After last Saturday’s successful Bedroom Tax protest it was agreed to hold meetings across Edinburgh with the aim of establishing local groups to fight back against the Bedroom Tax. The meeting details are as follows;
EDINBURGH WEST:      Tuesday 9 April at 7.00pm Gorgie Dalry Church, 190 Gorgie Road.EH11 2NX.

On Monday’s Today Programme David Bennett, a market trader, said that after his housing benefit had been cut, he lives on £53 per week.

Three days to sign bedroom tax petition!

The closing date for our Bedroom Tax petition to Edinburgh Council is Friday 5th April. The petition calls on the Council to commit to not evicting tenants who fall into rent arrears due to their housing benefit being cut.
