Eden Court Theatre

Inverness, Scotland

Nòs Ùr (meaning ‘new style’ in Scottish Gaelic) is a new song competition in the Celtic and Scots languages which will act as a regional final for the pan-European minority languages song competition – Liet Lavlut, held on 18 October 2008 in Lulea, Sweden. 

Languages accepted: Scots, Ulster Scots, Scottish Gaelic, Irish Gaelic, Manx Gaelic, Welsh, Cornish, Breton. 

On 21 June 2008 two acts will be chosen (one jury vote, one public vote) to represent the Celtic and Scots languages/regions at the Liet Lavlut competition in Lulea, northern Sweden. 

Amongst the competitors are anarcho-punk group Oi Polloi from Edinburgh.

Radical Walk of Old Town

Allan Armstrong will lead a walk through the Old Town of Edinburgh looking at the radical history of Edinburgh and how it impacted on struggles before here and abroad.  All are welcome and it's free.  Part of the Canongate Project.  Meet at the Canongate Project , 8 St Mary's Street at 1 pm on SUNDAY 8th June.

Radical Canongate

 

Radical Canongate - 7pm to 9 pm 2nd June 2008 - Canongate Project, 8 St Mary's Street, Edinburgh.

The Canongate Project is hosting a workshopabout lens based activism in the Canongate from the May Day march in the 30s to the Anti Poll Tax Struggle of the 80s/90s to Save Our Old Town in the 21st Century.  Craig Maclean looks at lens based activism, recording our history through film and photography.

Event is free and all are welcome.  Free tea, coffee and biscuits.

 

There will be a Radical Old Town walk on Sunday, 8th June 2008  from 1 to 2.30 pm, starting at the Canongate Project, 8 St Mary's Street, Edinburgh

Allan Armstrong will take you on a walk through the closes and graves of the Old Town of Edinburgh - looking at its radical history and the role "radicals" have made to history.
