YES! YES!

“If I can’t laugh, I don’t want to be part of your revolution. - The Yes Men. Camcorder Guerillas, a Glasgow-based group of filmmakers and activists, are hosting a masterclass with Mike Bonanno and Andy Bilchlbaum, the two stars of the new cult documentary film ‘The Yes Men’. The masterclass will take place on Tuesday February 22nd 2005 from 6.00 pm to 10.00 pm at Glasgow Media Access Center, Glasgow. It's open to all. Bonanno said: “One of the problems with the left, at least in the postwar period, was the serious and earnest, almost pious, ways that people approached criticism and activism. If you go back to earlier parts of the 20th century, humor was actually an important part of politics. I’m thinking, for example, of the agitprop theatre of the 1930s. The current wave of documentary filmmaking is reviving that tradition to some extent. This is a your chance to hear the inside story of ‘The Yes Men', and meet the shadowy anti-corporate pranksters who jet around the planet impersonating the likes of the World Trade Organisation and Dow Chemicals - at conferences, on the web, and on television. They call it 'identity correction'. The Guerillas comment “We are very excited to be hosting this event – we predict the movie 'The Yes Men will be the 'Fahrenheit 9/11' or 'Supersize Me' of 2005. Thanks to the Glasgow Film Festival for bringing pre-release screenings of 'The Yes Men' to Glasgow, and thanks to our sponsors Glasgow Film Office and Gmac for supporting our Yes Men masterclass. The Yes Men raise questions about the nature of “struggle the role of humour and what kind of action works in a global media age.
