Anarchist Social Centre Opens in Heart of Glasgow
On May the first, international workers' day, the Glasgow Autonomous Project opened "Printworks", an anarchist social centre in the heart of Glasgow. Printworks has been open now every day since then with events and workshops taking place nearly every day.
A former printing press the centre occupies a corner building on 58 Albion Street in the Glasgow's 'merchant city' - an area, formerly run down, that has been flagged up for gentrification and council vanity projects. Adjacent to many expensive coffee bars, restaurants, and gimicky amentities for the rich (isn't totalitarianism chic, eh? take a trip to Mao's the only restaurant to offer a true taste of "people's revolution", yours for only £7.95) the centre is being used as a welcome relief for those sick of the crud the corporate/state spectacle provides.
The centre is also functioning as a drop-in for various issues, such as peer-support mental-health and much, much else, and provides a wide variety of progressive and useful information in an easy to access, informal environment.
Come in and pay us a visit (12 - 9) or attend one of our many ongoing events.
